デヴィッド・ゴーブ・マカルー（David Gaub McCullough [m??k?l?]、1933年7月7日 - 2022年8月7日）[注釈 1]は、アメリカ合衆国の著述家、大衆歴史（英語版）家、ナレーターである[2]。ピューリッツァー賞と全米図書賞をそれぞれ2回受賞し、アメリカにおける民間人に対する最高の栄誉である大統領自由勲章を受章している[2][3]。

ジョンズタウン洪水、ハリー・S・トルーマン、ジョン・アダムズ、ブルックリン橋、ライト兄弟などをテーマにした本を執筆している。また、ケン・バーンズの『南北戦争』や2003年の映画『シービスケット』など多くのドキュメンタリー番組や映画のナレーターを務めたほか、『アメリカン・エクスペリエンス（英語版）』の司会を12年間務めた。
生涯
若年期と教育

マカルーは1933年7月7日にペンシルベニア州ピッツバーグ近郊のポイント・ブリーズ(Point Breeze)で生まれた[4]。父はクリスチャン・ハックス・マカルー(Christian Hax McCullough)、母はルース・ランキン(Ruth Rankin)で[5]、スコットランド・アイルランド系（英語版）の家系である,[6]。

幼少期には、スポーツをしたり漫画を描いたりするなど、広範囲に興味を持った[7]。両親や祖母は、幼い頃からマカルーに本を読ませた[6]。両親はよく歴史について話をしていた[6]。マカルーは学校へ行くのが好きだった[7]。
