ディープ・パープル（英語: Deep Purple）は、イギリスのイングランド出身のハードロック・バンドである。

レッド・ツェッペリンと並ぶハードロック・バンドの代表格の一つに数えられ、後続のバンドや多くのヘビー・メタル・バンドに多大な影響を与えた。

1968年結成。1976年に第4期のグループが解散[4]。1984年に第2期のメンバーによって再結成。2024年現在、第10期が活動中である。

アルバムセールスは、全世界で1億枚を突破している。2016年度に「ロックの殿堂」入りを果たした。
概要

ディープ・パープルは長い歴史の中で多くのメンバー・チェンジを繰り返すも、ボーカル／ベース／ギター／キーボード／ドラムという構成を一貫して保ち、大音量のハードロック演奏を繰り広げてきた。初代ギタリストのリッチー・ブラックモアはハード・ロック・ギタリストの筆頭格と認識され、ハードロックやヘビーメタルロックのギタリストに絶大な影響を与え、多くの心酔者と追随者を生んだ。

ディープ・パープルの特徴の一つとして挙げられるのは、レッド・ツェッペリンや多くのハードロック・バンドと異なり、キーボードがギターとほぼ同等の比重を占めることである。初代キーボーディストのジョン・ロードは、ロック・ミュージックのハモンド・オルガン奏者のパイオニアの一人であり、ハモンド・オルガンをハードロックに導入するという大きな功績をあげた。

代表曲には「ハッシュ」「ブラック・ナイト」「ハイウェイ・スター」「スモーク・オン・ザ・ウォーター」「紫の炎」「ウーマン・フロム・トーキョー」「スペース・トラッキン」「スピード・キング」「チャイルド・イン・タイム」[5]などがある。
