兄のアレック、弟のウィリアム、スティーヴンも俳優で、全員が俳優のボールドウィン4兄弟の上から2番目。

NBCの人気シリーズ『ホミサイド/殺人捜査課』のボー・フェルトン刑事役で知られている。B級映画への出演が多いため、兄弟の他の3人に比べて知名度はあまり高くない。

日本映画『太平洋の奇跡 -フォックスと呼ばれた男-』にも出演した。

プライベートでは、2人の妻と恋人1人の間に3人の子供がいる。元モデルの妻のジョアンからの逆DVが世間を騒がせた事もある。その際、娘は「マミーが私たちを殺すの？」と聞いたと言う。
