セントラル・リーグ（英: Central League）は、日本のプロ野球リーグのひとつ。

正式名称は日本プロ野球組織 セントラル・リーグ運営部。呼称はセ・リーグ、またはセ。
概要

日本におけるプロ野球リーグの一つで、読売ジャイアンツ（巨人）、阪神タイガース、中日ドラゴンズ、東京ヤクルトスワローズ、横浜DeNAベイスターズ、広島東洋カープの6球団から構成されている。

巨人・阪神・中日の3球団は、戦前に誕生し現在に至るまで親会社が変わらずに存在する老舗球団である。現存する6球団すべてが太平洋ベルト上（東海道・山陽新幹線沿線）に本拠地球場を置いており、うち広島以外の5球団はすべて三大都市圏（首都圏・近畿圏・中京圏）、その中でも巨人・ヤクルト・DeNAの3球団は首都圏に本拠地を置いている。

パシフィック・リーグとは異なり、指名打者制（DH制）を採用しておらず、投手を含めた9人のスタメンで構成されているのがセ・リーグの大きな特徴である。

2019年（令和元年）11月11日にJERAとタイトルパートナー（冠スポンサー）契約を締結。契約期間は2020年（令和2年）から3年間。2020年シーズンより、リーグ戦では「JERA セントラル・リーグ」の名称が使用される[1]。

1949年（昭和24年）、新チーム加盟の是非をめぐり日本野球連盟が分裂し、加盟反対派の読売ジャイアンツ（巨人）、中日ドラゴンズ、松竹ロビンスを中心に、大阪タイガース[注 1]、新球団の大洋ホエールズ、広島カープ、西日本パイレーツを加えた計7球団でセントラル野球連盟（セントラルやきゅうれんめい）が発足。なお、発足当時は小田急電鉄が球団を所有してセ・リーグに加盟して8球団体制とする計画があった[2]が、これは計画倒れに終わり実現しなかった。

袂を分かった賛成派の4球団（阪急ブレーブス、南海ホークス、大映スターズ、東急フライヤーズ）は、3つの新チーム（毎日オリオンズ、近鉄パールス、西鉄クリッパース）と共に太平洋野球連盟ことパシフィック・リーグ（パ・リーグ）を結成した。

翌1950年（昭和25年）1月には球団所有が中止・消滅に終わった小田急電鉄と入れ替わる形で国鉄スワローズ（現：東京ヤクルトスワローズ）も加盟し、当初の計画から違う形となったが、運営初年度から8球団体制となった。なお、初年度である1950年は松竹ロビンスがセ・リーグ初代優勝チームとなったが、その年の日本シリーズでは親会社のバックアップで戦力を充実させた毎日オリオンズに敗退した。
1950年代

その後1951年から1959年にかけて、水原茂監督率いる読売ジャイアンツの第2次黄金期だった。日本シリーズでも1951年から1953年、1955年において、鶴岡一人監督率いる南海ホークスを圧倒し、4度の日本一を達成した。しかし、1956年から1958年ではかつて巨人を指揮した三原脩監督率いる西鉄ライオンズに3年連続で敗退。さらに1959年でも杉浦忠擁する南海ホークスに0勝4敗と敗退した。なお、日本シリーズでストレートでの4連勝を決めたのは南海が史上初だった。

1951年1月10日に開催が予定されたセ・リーグ代表者会議を前に、経営危機に直面していた広島と西日本を整理する構想が浮上したものの、当日の会議では問題を先送りされた[3]が、結局シーズン開始直前に西日本パイレーツがパ・リーグの西鉄クリッパース（現：埼玉西武ライオンズ）と合併し脱退。
