セト(またはセツ[1]、ヘブライ語: ????, 現代ヘブライ語: ?et, アラビア語: ???)は、『旧約聖書』の「創世記」に登場するアダムの130歳の時の子とされる人物。カインとアベルの弟。「カインがアベルを殺したので、神が彼に代わる子を授け(シャト)られた」のがその名の由来とされる[2]。 105歳で子のエノスが生まれ、他に息子や娘をもうけ、912歳まで生きた[3]。「ヨベル書」においては妹のアズラと結婚し、娘の一人としてエノスの妻となったノエムを儲けた[4]。「アダムとイヴとサタンの対立」では、15歳の時にアベルの双子の姉妹であり、姉であるアクレミアと結婚した[5]。 グノーシス主義においては、セトはノーレアの兄かつ夫である[6]。 『創世記』4:17から22までに記載されたカインの末裔たちの名前の中には、『創世記』5:1から32に記載されたカインの弟セトの末裔たちによく似た名前がある[7]。文書仮説によれば、カインの系図はヤハウィスト資料(J資料)に由来し、セトの系図は祭司資料 アダム エバ
