スピッツ（英語: Spitz[6]、SPITZ[7]）は、日本の4人組ロックバンド[8]。所属事務所はGrass Hopper[注釈 1]。レコード会社はPolydor Records。公式ファンクラブは「Spitzbergen」（スピッツベルゲン）。
概要

1987年に結成し[9]、1991年にメジャー・デビューした。1995年発売の11thシングル『ロビンソン』や6thアルバム『ハチミツ』のヒットを機に人気を獲得。メジャーレーベルはポリドール時代からユニバーサルミュージックに所属している。

1997年から大阪を中心とする関西圏で「ロックロックこんにちは!」、2000年からは仙台で「ロックロックこんにちは! in 仙台」（2010年から「ロックのほそ道」と改称）、2010年からはSTUDIO COASTにおいて「Spitz×VINTAGE ROCK std. presents 新木場サンセット」といった、自身主催の音楽イベント（通称：レギュラーイベントと呼称[10]）を開催している。
バンド名の由来

スピッツは、草野が高校時代から温めていた名前で[11][12]、「短くてかわいいのに、パンクっぽい名前である」ことから命名し、犬種の日本スピッツも由来となっており、「弱いくせによく吠える」といったパンクバンドの意味も込められている[13][注釈 2]。また「SP」の音から始まる名前が気に入っており、それにしたかったとも草野が語っている。
