スズメ亜目(スズメあもく、学名 Passeri)は、鳥類スズメ目の亜目である。
スズメ目の3つの亜目の1つである。別名鳴禽類と呼ばれる通り、このスズメ亜目のグループの鳥は囀る鳥が多い。
スズメ亜目の鳥は全世界に分布しており、種の数も多く繁栄している。 Menurae と Passeres の2つの系統に分かれる。かつてはこれらが亜目に位置づけられ、コトドリ亜目・スズメ亜目と訳されていた。Menurae の系統位置には長く論争があったが、鳴管と鐙骨の特徴から Passeres と近縁だとされ、合わせてスズメ亜目 Passeri となった。 かつてのSibley分類ではカラス小目とスズメ小目に分けられていた。スズメ小目はいくつかの修正を経て現在でもよく使われるが、カラス小目は基底的な側系統であり、現在はほとんど使われない。スズメ小目とカラス小目を姉妹群となるよう(スズメ小目は広義に、カラス小目は狭義に)再定義することもある[1]が、この狭義のカラス小目の単系統性は近年再び疑問視されている[2]。 Irestedt & Ohlson (2008)[2]より。従来支持されていた[3][4]狭義のカラス小目(カラス上科+パプアハナドリ科+フウチョウモドキ科
