グアテマラの国歌はホセ・ホアキン・パルマ(1844-1911)によって作詞され、ラファエル・アルバレス・オバーリェによって作曲された。この国歌は1896年に政府によって開かれたコンペンションに勝利したことによって採用された。歌詞は1934年にスペイン語文法学者のホセ・マリア・ボニーリャ・ルアノ博士によって僅かに修正された。一部の歌詞は血腥い文脈からソフトなものに変更され、その他の部分は詩美が高められた[1]。
この国歌は最初の歌詞からしばしば誤ってGuatemala Feliz!と「タイトル」されるが、この国歌に定められた公式の名前は存在せず、グアテマラではHimno Nacionalと称されるのみである。
