エッジワース・カイパーベルト (英: Edgeworth-Kuiper belt)、または単にカイパーベルト (英: Kuiper belt) は、太陽系の海王星軌道 (太陽から約30 au) より外側からおよそ 50 au までの黄道面付近にある、天体が密集した穴の空いた円盤状の領域であり、星周円盤の一種である[1][2]。小惑星帯 (メインベルト) と似ているが、範囲は20倍、質量は20から200倍と小惑星帯よりもはるかに大規模である[3][4]。小惑星帯と同様、カイパーベルトは主に太陽系小天体か、太陽系が形成される際の残余物からなる。多くの小惑星が岩石と金属を主成分とする一方で、カイパーベルトの天体はその組成の大部分をメタンやアンモニア、水などの揮発性物質の凝縮物 (これらを「氷」と総称する) が占めている。カイパーベルトには、天文学者が一般的に準惑星と認めているほとんどの天体のうち冥王星[5]とハウメア[6]、マケマケ[7]が存在する。太陽系内にある衛星のいくつか、例えば海王星の衛星トリトンや土星の衛星フェーベは、カイパーベルトが起源である可能性がある[8][9]。
エッジワース・カイパーベルトという名称は、オランダおよびアメリカ合衆国の天文学者ジェラルド・カイパー、およびアイルランドの天文学者ケネス・エッジワースに由来する。
