They are indirect elections in which voters in each state cast ballots for a slate of electors of the U.S. Electoral College who pledge to vote for a specific political party's nominee for President.
1964年から2016年までは、オハイオ州を制した候補が毎回、大統領になるジンクスが続いていた。中西部に位置するスイング・ステートである同州は、産業構造や人口構成などから「全米の縮図」とも呼ばれている[1]。
